THE CATHOLIC STAND
‘The Catholic Church believes in the ongoing understanding of God’s revelation. Hence it believes in the two sources of Scriptureand Tradition for its ongoing spiritual nourishment. The Protestants who swear only by solascriptura (scripture alone) forget that the scriptures themselves, whether Old Testament orNew Testament, are a collection of various oral and written traditions. Besides, they alsoforget that they too are swearing by one tradition or the other, of Luther, Calvin, Zwingli, andso on.‘Just because the Catholic Church values the traditions of doctrinal and devotionaldevelopment, it does not mean that it neglects the Scripture. In fact, the later doctrines anddogmas embody the deeper scriptural insights discovered by the later generations of believers. The dogmas cannot contradict the scriptural truths nor is the catholic devotions in denial ofthe scripture!’‘The real task here is not to prove the other tradition to be wrong and thus to defeat andhumiliate its adherents. Different experiences lead to different perception, stresses andinterpretations. Hence difference does not necessarily mean that something/somebody shouldbe wrong. Rather than rejecting or condemning the differences, we have to develop a newmind set to learn from the differences. Often they are more complementary than contradictory. They remind us about some aspects, which we have neglected, or over stressed’.Jesus prayed: “ JH 10.16 So there shall be one flock, one shepherd. JH 17.11 that they may be one, even as we are one. JH17.21 that they may all be one; even as thou, Father, art in me, and I inthee, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. JH17.22that they may be one even as we are one”.Since the strategy of the enemy is ‘Divide and Rule’ it is important that our approach be‘Unity and Understanding’.- It is in this spirit I present this compilation.TOPIC (CLICK ON THE HYPERLINK BELOW)Non-Catholic views on the ‘Perpetual Virginity of Mary’Catholic views on the ‘Perpetual Virginity of Mary’ from Catholic Web PagesNon-Catholic views on the ‘Immaculate Conception’Catholic views on the ‘Immaculate Conception’ from Catholic Web PagesNon-Catholic views on the ‘Assumption of Mary into Heaven’Catholic views on the ‘Assumption of Mary into Heaven’ from Catholic Web PagesPAGE1-33-555-666–8
